Fly fishing is a special experience where an angler and fish can connect in a way unique to the sport itself. Whether getting a perfect dead drift to stick a big rainbow or unleashing a low, tight, 70 foot loop to a tailing permit, the connection made through fly line is exhilarating. Over the course of my guiding profession I have been fortunate enough to use some of the finest equipment and boats that make the fly fishing experience possible. Below are the great friends that provide myself as well as my guests with that unforgettable hook up.....
Scott Fly Rod Company
If you were to meet the great people at Scott Fly Rod, you would quickly learn they are a fish obsessed bunch. From the design of the blanks to the finishing touch of a rod, I believe no other rod company on the market is as committed to fly fishing as Scott. The fact that anybody can cruise over to Montrose, Colorado and watch every rod model built, start to finish, is something very special. I consider myself extremely privileged to be a part of their Pro Staff and fish such a high performance rod.
Nautilus Reels
Based out of Miami, FL these guys flat out know how to make a high quality reel. I have found that their CCF and NV series reels tackle hard fighting saltwater gamefish with the incredible stamina and smoothness required to land anything from an acrobatic tarpon to a hard charging redfish. Fishing these reels to the max is always a riot, especially when I know that they can keep performing day after day.
Costa Del Mar

I have fished all the major brands of fishing eyewear and have not found anything that comes close to Costa Del Mar sunglasses. The quality of comfort in their frames combined with performance in their lenses makes for a sunglass that helps any angler seriously see fish better. I personally wear the 580 lenses in green mirror and can't say enough about them. Whether spotting bonefish in the Keys or trout in Tennessee or North Carolina, Costas can do it all.
Hyde Drift Boats

When I was first considering to buy a drift boat, my number one priority was ease of rowing. I wanted a boat that I could put very little effort into and get it to perform in an instant. Rowing on the rivers in Iowa and the southeast can get pretty technical, with hard charging current pushing me toward jagged limestone and granite boulders I needed a boat that could spin on a dime and back row with the best of them. Settling on my Hyde Pro Series drift boat has proved to be a great choice time after time. They can maneuver through a mine field but still withstand the abuse of the river bottom when things get super skinny. My first boat was a Hyde and chances are......my last one will be too.
